Some Creative Ways To Use Your 401k |

There is a problem with traditional 401k plans however and that is your money is invested into different funds that may not give you the kind of return that you need. Most mutual funds will underperform the market as a whole when their job should be not only to match the average but to beat it. Most plans only invest into specific mutual funds and they may not even let you decide which funds you can invest into. If you want to make a higher return on your money then you are simply going to have to look for ways to invest your money more creatively. You will have to step back from the crowd and find other ways to invest money. There are two ways to do this. The first thing you could do is to create a self directed 401k plan. This is a plan where you actually control where your money is going to be invested. Not all employers offer this kind of a plan and many that do will restrict where you can invest that money into just the major mutual funds or the funds backed by a specific firm. You never know what you will find. Your employer will have some more 401k info on what your specific plan offers. It is worth checking it out. Another thing that you can do is to use that money to start investing into real estate with your 401k. While you can't invest into real estate directly you can take out a loan from your 401k and use that to buy real estate. 401k loans are simply low interest loans that you can take out of your 401k and use to invest into real estate. Like a loan you do need to pay it back and the shorter you have the loan the better. But, the interest paid on the loan can go back into your fund. In short you make money on your real estate adventure and on the interest you paid on the loan. |
