By far the most unique thing about the Nexus One is its incredible voice recognition capabilities. HTC and Google have implemented voice recognition for any text field, which means you can now dictate text messages, emails and Twitter tweets as well as using the technology to search the web. A major part of the Nexus One appeal is its sleek design. It is one of the slimmest smartphones on the market, but that does not make it a lightweight. It is a serious looking piece of phone design that has a tough, edgy and robust feel. With its large touch screen, rounded curved corners and edges some will say that the Nexus One is more than a little iPhone-inspired, but HTC have managed to slim the casing down to a thickness of 11.5mm, making this a far more svelte handset than the Droid, Hero or iPhone. A real plus point for the Nexus One design is its built in camera. The camera app has been improved, especially in the speed department, and it comes with a 5 megapixel lens. Further improvements have been made to the gallery application which is aesthetically better and far more user friendly. When it comes to display, the Nexus One comes with a 3.7 inch touch screen. We found the touch sensitivity was excellent, and its 480 x 800 pixel resolution is high, but not as high as it could have been. Our only disappointment comes with the screens visibility in bright sunlight, and unfortunately this problem comes with al handsets with this screen type. Powering the new Nexus One handset is the processor that everyone is talking about, the 1GHz Snapdragon. There is no question that this is a powerful and ultra fast processor and it makes the Nexus One user experience far more enjoyable than that of any other Android phone, allowing for smooth and glitch-free web browsing and app use. The Nexus One makes full use of the latest technologies and smartphone users will be pleased to hear that it is WiFi compatible, has a solid 512MB RAM and ROM memory store, as well as a 4GB microSD card that can be expanded to a beefier 32GB. |
