Research locations. When looking at the building and its location, consider how often you receive shipments. Companies that receive constant deliveries may need to be near a freeway or even a seaport. Think about the kind of access you need to the building. Doorways should be large enough for deliveries. Certain businesses may require docks.

Check out the landlord and the property management. Ask other tenants about the quality of the services provided. Make sure the buildings are up to safety code requirements. Recognize your responsibilities as a tenant. Do not assume that the landlord will do certain things. Don't agree to anything that is not spelled out in the lease.

Although getting a new office may be on the cards at some point, in a recession attempting to rent or purchase a larger, more expensive space is best avoided and, if it's possible to stay in your current location, many managers will prefer to do so.

An increase in accuracy and efficiency receiving process might lead to reduction in level of safety stock required. But the consequence of this reduction will hardly be visible to the overall inventory levels.
