Probably the first thing on your list will be your desired location, and in particular, which area you want to living. This is critical as it will narrow down your choices very quickly, helping you look. Other things you would want to consider are factors like ease of access and closeness to facilities and infrastructure. How far away from your place of employment is it and are there all the facilities nearby that you would like, such as malls, cafes, and gyms? Other items that need to be checked is the building's facilities. This includes the basics such as parking, access to the apartment unit, furnishings, laundry facilities, garbage disposal system, and fire safety features among others. Additional important issues that need to be discussed with the landlord should also be part of the checklist. Security deposit and refund, repairs and maintenance issues, and whether the furnishings are part of the rent or paid separately, are matters that have to be threshed out before making the final decision. You should also ask them about what their conditions are for smoking, animals, children, and the number of tenants allowed to live in the apartment at any one time. Other questions include whether there are any restrictions on throwing parties or having people over to visit. Once all these pre-lease issues have been resolved, there are a few other post-lease factors to consider. Firstly, you need to walk through the apartment with the landlord and take a record of the condition of the apartment before you move all your stuff in. The best way to do this is to list each room and everything in it, then you make a note of the status of each item on the list and each room. At the end of this inspection you should both initial the document, as this will protect you from having to pay for things that you didn't damage. |
