Responsibilities Of Renters Usually renters are responsible for maintaining their apartment and the area that is around the apartment. These might be the inside parts of the apartment as well as porch and backyard. This addresses general type of maintenance and cleanliness issues. But things like painting the walls or different kind of repairs of the interior and exterior of the property are usually supervised by a renter. Also the renter has responsibilities for repairs in their house. These might include cleaning or fixing some equipment in bathrooms. So usually if such difficulties occur, then the renter doesn't feel comfortable to do these jobs by himself and he usually contacts a maintenance company for a proper assistance. Renters should always show their respect towards other renters and not do intentionally such things as damaging or marring public places. This includes littering or vandalism or even a simple failure to pick up the trash after yourself. Those renters that don't obey these rules of respect might be forced to pay fines or special penalties according to the renting contract. Responsibilities Of The Leasing Agent leasing agents are usually responsible for fixing main items such as certain things of the exterior of the building or equipment that is not functioning properly, for instance it might be leaky pipes. Also, the responsibilities of leasing agent is to intervene and help the renter if he is having problems with utilities. Such problems as absence of hot water or heat in the apartment must be addressed to the maintenance staff accordingly. Also, one more thing that leasing agent is supposed to take care of it is that public area around the apartment. These are the grassy parts of the outside area and the general cleanliness of the outside of the apartment. Things That The Leasing Agent Is Not Responsible For So knowing all this we can see that leasing agents are responsible for renters comfort and always should take care of their complaints and concerns. If the leasing agent is careless about his renters, such attitude can lead to problems with clients. For example, if a renter does not have hot water in the apartment, this won't be a pleasure to realize that your spigot has only cold water. And of course heating problem is not something that you want to allow to occur. Therefore, if you rent an apartment make sure that everything is working properly.. If the renter addresses these issues with the owner, and still does not get satisfaction, they have the right to contact the Department of Housing and see what remedies they can provide to fix the situation. Sometimes, there are cases or inconvenient situations about could not be controlled by a renter or leasing agent. But other times, the leasing agent may breaks rules on the contract. In these cases, the Department of Housing may be called in and enforce maintenance codes so that the renter is not in a dangerous or unsafe situation. |
