When a person grows old enough, he or she loses the ability to earn the necessary money for treatment purposes, which are usually quite large in amount. At such conditions, the Medicare plans come to be very helpful as they pay the bills of the treatment of a person. The Medicare health insurance plans are provided by the government of respective countriesin return of a very less amount of money. When the old aged person falls sick and needs treatment, the government pays the medical bills. Because of these Medicare health insurance plans, thousands of people are living a tension free life. However, most of the Medicare plans provided by the government do not cover the entire medical bills; they leave a huge gap which proves to be very difficult for the common people to fulfill. They have to pay the remaining money from their own pockets which cause huge problems later. The only way to prevent such problems is to use the supplemental Medicare plans. The Medicare supplement plans or the medigap plans are designed to bridge the gap left by the original Medicare policy and so far they have helped thousands of old aged people from all over the world. The Medicare Supplement Plans are provided by private health insurance companies at a larger price, but they offer several more facilities than the Medicare plans provided by the government. Till the last year, 2009 there were only twelve Medigap Health Insurance Plans to be sold by the private health insurance companies. These plans were labeled under the letter head A through L. But in this year i.e. 2010 two new plans M and N are to be introduced. These two plans offer better benefits in the form of cost sharing and deductibles. However, the Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans are available only to those people who are already enlisted with the original Medicare policy. |
