Car Insurance Advice Offered To Drivers

These include adding another driver to the policy, as this can help cut bills if the motorist is older and has no convictions.

A number of suggestions for those seeking car insurance have been provided, including adding another motorist to the policy.

According to Moneywise.co.uk, anyone looking for young drivers insurance - or indeed any individuals in the market for such cover - can save money by doing so, if the person in question is free of convictions and above a certain age.

However, there are other ways of reducing premiums and these include being specific about job titles, as stressful careers can have an impact - nurses, for example, could pay £630 annually, while paramedics might find their bill comes to £580.

Further methods for cutting costs are paying up front as instalments could mean brokers must find finance providers and employ underwriters, which will incur fees as well as interest.

Looking out for hidden charges was also recommended and Britons were reminded to read the small print carefully or ask for the provider's schedule of fees - which can incorporate matters such as cancellation fees and changes of address.

Furthermore, although it was noted that insurers are less keen to haggle over money than in previous years, asking questions is still worth doing.

"They might throw in free breakdown cover, for example," the publication remarked.

Another way of saving a bit of extra money could be through the use of pay-as-you-go insurance policies - a graduated driver licensing system that may well be introduced in the country and which would see young drivers only allowed to travel at certain times of day.

However, people who neglect to take on British insurance for their vehicles were also warned to ensure they have cover in place.

"A new law is due next February that links the insurance database with that of the DVLA, so you'll swiftly receive a warning, followed by a £100 fine," the news source observed.
