Raise Dough With A Pizza Fundraiser

One of the most common fundraisers is a bake sale. Every school, church, or other charity organization has probably hosted one at least once. They're desirable because they're easy to organize, easy to execute, and have great potential for money making. Who doesn't love baked goods, right? But there's a downside. Because they're so popular and done so often, they can get old and over time, not as successful as they might have been when they were a new fundraising method for your group. Sometimes, it helps to branch out. Another fundraiser to try, that can be just as successful as a bake sale is a pizza fundraiser.

There are a few ways to go about holding a pizza fundraiser. You can order them, and either pick them up or have them delivered. You can make and sell them. Or, you can give the people who attend your fundraiser the opportunity to make their own. And finally, you can work with a fundraising company to sell pizza-making kits for home use. However you decide to go about it, it's not as difficult to plan as it may seem.

Whether you plan to order or make pizza, it helps to include another activity around which the pizza fundraiser can be planned. A movie night, for example. Find a venue that will accommodate a large group, and that has room for a movie screen, or big screen TV. Choose a family friendly movie to make the event appropriate for a larger number of people. The more people who attend, the more money the event can bring in for your cause.

To order pizzas, it's a good idea to give the restaurant some advance notice so they're not bombarded with a huge order on what may be an otherwise busy night for them. If they can't deliver that many pizzas to your event, enlist a few volunteers from your group to go pick them up. Then you can sell pizza by the slice to your event attendees.

If you have access to a venue with a kitchen, your group can make pizzas to sell by the slice. Contact your local grocery stores to see if they will work out a volume discount for you. It may be easier to buy pre-made, frozen pizza shells rather than make the dough from scratch. The other basics you'll need are sauce and cheese, and then a variety of toppings. Buying pre-cut vegetables from the produce section, or even canned vegetables will cut down on preparation time and effort. If you're concerned about making healthier pizza, go with fresh vegetables. A great shortcut here is to just buy pre-made frozen pizzas, and then cut them up to sell by the slice.

Again, if you have the means, you can go through the same process as for making the pizzas, but then allow the attendees to make their own pizzas. You'll need to set aside some space to lay out the fixings, and for people to put their pizzas together. It would be helpful if you have more than one oven available to make the baking process go a little faster, so people don't have to wait too long for their food.

There are also a few fundraising companies that will sell kits for homemade pizza. You wouldn't even have to plan an event for this. Your group can just sell the kits to people throughout the community, and then those who buy the kits can make the pizzas whenever they like. Busy parents might like the idea of letting the kids make dinner one night with a pizza kit. They would also be great for kids' birthday parties, or other family gatherings.

Whatever method you choose, pizza fundraisers are a fun and tasty way to raise money for your organization.
