Your payment history makes up 35 of your credit score and is most important. You can remove negative credit history by disputing it to the credit bureaus or having your creditors removing it through negotiation. Your debt to limit ratio makes up 30 of your credit score. You can improve this by paying down your balances and increasing your credit limits. Your credit history length is 15 of your credit score. You can become an authorized user on your spouse's accounts and make sure you get a credit account as soon as you are old enough. Your types of credit makes up 10 of your credit score. Make sure you have a variety of credit types including credit cards, line of credit, auto loan, mortgage if possible, and a merchant store card. Your inquiries make up 10 of your credit score. Don't apply for new credit unless you need it and if you do apply for multiple things at the same time. Similar credit inquiries will count as just one inquiry if done in a certain amount of time. You can do all these things at the same time over a period of time to improve your credit score and get the credit you want. |
