In what ways will budgeting, benefit you? To begin with, it is a great way to see where your money is being spent. When you begin budget, you need to start by writing down all the things you buy on a daily basis. You then analyze this list and make reductions and eliminations wherever necessary. This should be done while budgeting as well to keep up with it. Once you have your spending habits down and you have analyzed them, you can decided how much you are allowed to spend on each thing that you need and want. For example, you can decide how much you are allowed to spend on food each week, how much you are allowed to spend on entertainment, etc.. Break your spending up into three basic categories. You will have fixed expenses that never change, including rent or mortgage, insurance, etc. You will have variable necessity expenses which include water, electricity, phone, food, etc. And finally, you will have variable want expenses, which will include entertainment, cable, cell phone, eating out, etc. Of course, your fixed expenses stay the same, so there is not much you can do with that, but you can adjust your two variable expenses. Necessity variable expenses can be cut down. For example, try to use less water and electricity and those bills will go down. Budgeting with variable want expenses may seem too difficult at first. The numbers are always changing so you can't really make a concrete number for each, right? Well, that's the whole point of budgeting. In order to budget effectively, you have to limit a certain amount of money to spend in each of these categories each month. You need to decide that you can't go over a certain amount for entertainment, extras, eating out, etc. Now that you have a well thought out and planned budget, you can begin to follow it and reap the rewards. Follow it correctly and you will see your wealth grow and financial stability increase. |
