We asked 14 owners why they have the horses they do. Their reasons varied, but their passions for their chosen breed puts them on common ground. Here's what they like best about their horses, and what they want you to know about their breeds of choice.

Lisa Mann, Pennsylvania: Long-time Appaloosa owner; trail rides and shows.

First impressions: My farrier bred and raised Appaloosas, and he was always bugging me to come look. I finally did, and that's how I ended up with my first Appaloosa, Jake, 22 years ago. I still have him-and five others. Christian Louboutin Sandals yellow

What I like best: Appaloosas are willing and versatile. You can do anything with them, and they're always willing to give it a go. And their coat patterns and colors make them so unique.

This breed isn't: Stubborn. A lot of people think Appaloosas are unwilling and hardheaded, but my experience is the opposite. Sheryl McConnell, Colorado: Trail rides, shows, and breeds Arabians; teaches special education and brings her students and horses together.

First impressions: I was born into a horse family and had shown mostly stock horses. When I started dating my future husband, he had an Arabian stallion. Then an Ara- bian filly came up for sale. I decided to buy her, and she's still active and healthy at 29. The variety of classes offered in Arabian shows intrigued me and got me hooked.
