Because concepts such as morality and sin are recognized by
many different cultures Christian Louboutin
religious traditions, agreement with these be liefs may not
require specific endorsements of orthodox Christian doctrine
(unlike several of the beliefs captured by the
SpirituallyOriented Causes /Treatments
dimension).Furthermore, one dimension of religious beliefs
about mental illness - Spiritually-Oriented Causes/Treatment
beliefs - was more commonly endorsed by members of some
Christian denominations than members Christian Louboutin Jean Paul 120

Protestants and NonDenominational Christians appear to view
mental illness as being more likely to have
spiritually-oriented causes and treatments than Roman
Catholic Christians. Another interesting finding was that
exposure to persons with mental illness affects endorsements
of beliefs about mental illness being related to morality
and sin, as well as secular perceptions of dangerousness.
People who reported knowing someone(s) who has a mental
illness "very well" endorsed both groups of
beliefs less than people who either had acquaintances with
persons with mental illness or did not have any exposure to
persons in this stigmatized group. These findings support
the idea that having close positive contact with persons
from a particular stigmatized group can be beneficial in
combating stigma (Allport, 1954; Corrigan et al., 2001; Christian Louboutin Josefa 120

also Penn & Link, 2002).There are three main limitations
with this first study. The first limitation is the small
number of women in our sample; this lack of women limited
our ability to examine possible gender differences in
endorsements of the religious beliefs about mental illness.
There is evidence to suggest that men are more likely than
women to endorse various secular beliefs about and be less
accepting of persons with mental illness (Farina, 1981; Perm
& Link, 2002); it is possible that there may Christian Louboutin Leopard
Print gender differences in endorsements of
the religious beliefs about this stigmatized group as
well.
